Three Minnesota Men Bravely Bash Local Homo

The St. Cloud Police arrested and charged Matthew Warren Thomas, 24; Chad Vincent Hands, 21, and Ryan Andrew Frane, 23, for fourth-degree assault against a 22-year-old gay man. Luckily, the victim only suffered cuts and bruises to his face and hands, according to police. But this is what happens when you tell everyone in your state that gays eat poo, fuck animals and rape kids and then create a bill so everyone can vote on their right to exist. We can't defend ourselves with just supportive speeches or rainbow glitter. Makes you reconsider groups like the Pink Pistols.

via Towleroad News #gay by Andy Towle on 5/23/11

Freedom to Marry writes, in a press release:

Daly In an interview in the June 4, 2011 issue of World Magazine, Jim Daly, President and CEO of Focus on the Family, a leading funder of anti-gay attacks concentrated on denying same-sex couples the freedom to marry, declared that the opponents of equality are being repudiated by young people and have "probably lost" on marriage, stating:

We're losing on that one, especially among the 20- and 30-somethings: 65 to 70 percent of them favor same-sex marriage. I don't know if that's going to change with a little more age—demographers would say probably not. We've probably lost that.

Said Evan Wolfson, Founder and President of Freedom to Marry: "Focus on the Family finally got something right—the American people are rejecting their anti-gay toxic rhetoric and punitive politics, and are siding with loving and committed couples seeking the freedom to marry. With six national polls now confirming that a majority of Americans support the freedom to marry, it's time for Focus on the Family and other anti-gay industry activists to move on and, ideally, redirect their resources toward tackling the real problems gay and non-gay Americans could be confronting together in these tough economic times."

The LAPD Harassed Sgt. Crumb For Being Gay, So He Sued Them For $1.6 Million

via Queerty by Daniel on 5/20/11

When openly gay Saregeant Ronald Crump (pictured) joined the Los Angeles Police Department Media Relations Section, his superior office Lieutenant John Romero allegedly made fun of his homosexuality by describing him as "the new Ruby minus the heels"; Ruby being the woman he replaced in the unit. Another time, Romero allegedly told him, "I was a religion major at Liberty University. Jerry Falwell would roll over in his grave if he knew I had hired you." When Crump complained to his bosses' supervisor, Romero found out and allegedly threatened to fire Crump for 'rumor mongering', stating 'Don't forget I hired you even through you're gay.'

Frustrated Crump complained to then Police Chief Bill Bratton just before Crump's month-long vacation. When Crump returned, his boss put him in a job answering 911 calls and then an even worse position on Skid Row. Tired of playing games, Crump decided to sue the LAPD for $1.16 Million. Yesterday, he won.

Professional Bowler Scott Norton: 'I am a Gay Athlete'

yes!

via Towleroad News #gay by Andy Towle on 5/19/11

Professional bowler Scott Norton has come out of the closet. Norton cites the coming out earlier this week of Phoenix Suns CEO and President Rick Welts as the catalyst to his decision.

Norton He writes in a piece for the Professional Bowlers Association:

While many athletes wait until they retire to officially come out, the fact that Mr. Welts has the courage to do so while still actively involved with the NBA has encouraged me to also acknowledge that I am a gay athlete.

It is extremely important for me to come out to show other gay athletes, both current and future, that it is important to come out to show that we are just like everyone else. Being gay doesn't define who I am as a person or as a professional athlete. I'm also a professional bowler, lawyer, caring, compassionate, strong, and many other things.

It's important to show people that being gay has nothing to do with one's ability to do anything as a man, least of all compete at the highest level of sports.

Read the whole piece HERE.

It's amazing to see what can happen when people like Rick Welts lead by example!
