Rock Seen, A Book by Legendary Rock & Roll Photographer Bob Gruen

I think it's hilarious that Gene Simmons is wearing clogs in that picture.

Leroy Leutscher, 86, of Arizona, slipped and fell on a pair of pruning shears that went right through his eye and down his neck. Amazingly, he's doing pretty well given the circumstances. From The Telegraph:
Multimedia Archive 01983 Leroy220 1983488F Luetscher was rushed to the hospital, where surgeons removed the shears and rebuilt his orbital floor with metal mesh, saving his eye. Doctors say Mr Luetscher still has slight swelling in his eyelids and minor double vision but has otherwise recovered.

WATCH: A Previously Unreleased Video History of The Smiths

WATCH: A Previously Unreleased Video History of The Smiths

Unless you were a member of the music press, it's unlikely that you ever saw this 17-minute promotional documentary about seminal UK band The Smiths, created as a sort of visual timeline in conjunction with the band's "Best of" compilation in 1992. But now Rhino Records has posted the clip online in anticipation of the release of remastered versions of all the band's albums on September 22. These things take time, indeed.

Obsessive Smiths fans will have already seen much of what's included here in dribs and drabs, but it's still a pretty nifty look back at one of the '80s most influential and ambiguously gay bands.

And if you're new to him, here's your opportunity to meet a young, skinny Morrissey as he swoons, sways and slyly sings about charming men and girlfriends in comas.

Quake-wise, I didn't feel anything here in NYC, nor did my dogs act strangely. Aren't animals supposed to be the ones who warn us? But don't feel bad when I tell you I didn't feel the earth move—it takes a lot to get me there.

hanksy

Bowery Boogie spotted a new Hanksy street art in NYC's Lower East Side. This one is a Cast Away version of Tom Hanks throwing "Wilson" instead of flowers, which appears to be a reference to this Family Guy scene.

Previously we have featured a rat version of Hanksy and a Catch Me If You Can version of Hanksy.

funny dog pictures - For The Thrill Of It: Otis, The Skydiving Pug

Otis, a 10-year-old pug living in Los Angeles, Calif., loves to go skydiving. In fact, he's been on 64 jumps to date! Turns out that his dad, Will DaSilva, owns a skydiving company and Otis not only hangs around the office, but jumps out of the planes with Will and other skydivers. And it seems like Otis really does enjoy it!

'He's totally aware of what's happening when he free falls and just like a first-time jumper he gets all excited about it and gets nervous at the door.

'Once he's out though he's just having a ball like a dog with its head out of the car window.'

Will claims that despite the danger of skydiving Otis' main concerns are his unhealthy eating habits, with his nickname being 'Hoover'.

'Otis is living the ultimate dream. He lounges around here all day, jumping for free and bumming food off the other divers,

'He's (probably) going to die of a food overdose, not from sky-diving,' he said.
